Our poor PC came down with an awful virus last week. (Hint: never click on a website that has dancing cupcakes that sparkle.) Tim has been working on the fix. The only solution was a complete scrub of everything loaded and a fresh start with a clean slate. Even though it took a while to do all this, it was a useful learning experience for Tim. He is so smart. In the process, we gained a new little gadget connected to the PC - something called an external hard drive - a slim black box with a pretty blue light on the side.
Yesterday was interesting. We had our first snowfall of the year - about an inch or so. I had planned to take the day off anyway, so it worked out well to be home.
I parked myself in front of the TV for hours to watch the inauguration. For one thing, Will and Angela were there in person. He called me a few times and texted some too. I can't wait to hear all the details at a later time.
Things I liked about it:
-seeing the Obamas emerge the first time from the Blair House to attend the church service. I immediately loved her yellow outfit.
-seeing Michelle give Laura a gift as they walked up the stairs to the White House. How gracious. I wonder what was in that box?
-watching all the well known politicians (and their spouses) enter the Capitol for the ceremony. I had almost forgotten about the Mondales and the Quales.
-the two Obama girls. They are precious. And those outfits - J. Crew got it right.
-Rick Warren's opening prayer and Rev. Lowery's benediction.
-Jill Biden's boots. I want a pair.
Things I did not like:
-Chief Justice Roberts not having the oath memorized. Cue cards would have been very acceptable and this could have been avoided.
-the poet and the poem. I am not one, so I'm not an expert, but it did nothing for me.
Things I am not sure about:
Aretha's hat.
I did love watching the entire program and glad I did not miss it. My work was waiting for me on my desk this morning and I don't think one person at work missed me. I should take more stay-at-home-days like this.
