Flash Back memory jog

So I went up in the attic to seek out my 1966 St. Vincent's yearbook - trying to overcome my memory lapse on this prom thing. Inside my yearbook, I found this loose picture tucked in the back.

That's right - I remember now. They played at our prom! I was a member of the fan club. "Judy in Disguise" - a great song!

The Internet is full of info on John Fred - now deceased. Just google his name and you'll see more. Mentions of Stan's Record Shop in Shreveport are fun to read too.

Flash Back Friday

It's prom season. Last weekend while shopping I noticed the prom dresses prominently displayed in many of the stores. I also noticed mothers and daughters shopping together, combing the racks for just the right dress. Melanie and I did this a few times when she was in high school and I remember it well.

Many years ago I must have shopped for a prom dress because I have this picture. However, I do not have any recollection of the dress I wore in May of 1966. I do not remember shopping for it or the store where it was purchased. I have no memory of putting on the long white over-the-elbow gloves. In fact I do not remember going to the dance. Oh well, I'm sure I had a good time. At least my arms were warm.

Flash Back Friday

The above title is borrowed from a blog I follow. I enjoy the blogger's "flash backs" and thought it would be fun to add this to our blog with family pictures or just memories from our past. So here is our first flash back...July 1996...our first planned and organized family reunion. John hosted this first official reunion in Eureka Springs, Arkansas the summer of "96. We all had such a good time; it was decided that there would be more reunions in the future.

In Eureka Springs, we all stayed in a compound of houses grouped together called The Border House.

Here are all the females gathered together.
Sarah Kate is the babe in arms & where are you Hollie?

The males attending gathered on the porch.
The big difference I see is the height of Aaron and Jared 13 yrs. later!

A Week With The Grandkids

Michael and Jill flew out to Vegas last week for a little r&r so Mel and I headed to Cypress to spend time with Jacob and Josh. We went down there last Saturday and came home yesterday. It was a week filled with lots of activities. It's very quiet around our house today and we both miss the boys. However, Spring Break is the 16th so they will be coming up to visit and we'll be seeing them soon.

Here we are having lunch at Ault Elementary. The Happy Meals were brought in from you know where.

Grandma and Josh playing in the backyard

A daily walk to the park with Grandpa

Jacob and Grandma reading to his classmates. Jacob is an excellent reader if I do say so myself.
He read one side of the page and Grandma read the other. (although he could have read the whole book himself)
