Not just for squirrels

Speaking of traps, how about this one for catching those mischievous persons.

One invention that was probably not a success. But the woman looks so darn happy with her hand trapped!

Hail & Tornados

Well, here it is June 14 and we've been blasted with hail again. This is the 3rd time this week that we've been hit. Luckly, it's only been of the pea size so there was no damage to the cars or houses.
The first image is of some horses that I'm letting my neighbor graze in my pasture - they keep me from having to mow the fields and they also fertalize it. They were unfazed by the hail.
The second picutre shows the leaves that were stripped from the bush. All of the trees were also "trimmed" by mother nature.
The 3rd. picture shows the frot yard covered with the hail.

Last Sunday, we had a tornado touch down about 1/2 mile from the house - I didn't see it - I was on a bike ride in downtown Denver. We've had several tornados over the past week in the Denver metro area. Hopefully, we'll settle down and have a "average" summer of weather.

Wildlife management

Now the squirrels have overtaken our yard. Last weekend we noticed the bark on the limbs of our dogwoods had been chewed off. Enough is enough! Squirrels be gone! Tim bought a trap, placed some peanut butter inside, and each day since, the trap has had an occupant. The trap is then transported down the road to a city park, the trap door opened and the critter scampers out. He runs quickly to all of his squirrely friends and yells out the warning - "stay away from Ms. Peggy's house - she's a trappin' fool!"

While we were in the critter gettin' mode, we decided to adopt and then mount this plastic owl near our roof top. We're hoping Mr. Hoots will scare away the birds who think that the utility wire - next to our house and directly over our parked cars - is their personal port-a-potty. Removing hardened white gookiness off my car is not something I savor first thing in the morning.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend! We will since we've got it all under control now.

Flash Back Friday

In a previous post a few months ago, I wrote about the Barr family's first official reunion which was held in 1996. Fast forward to this week in June, 2004 and here we all are reunited in Gulf Shores, Alabama for another reunion. Mel and I hosted this one and wanted to share this beautiful place which we had often frequented with the family.

We all stayed on the fifth floor of condos we rented and this is the view from our balconies.

Here's the clan gathered all together on the beach.

In fact, most days were spent on the beach.

and most evenings.

We think all had a good time in Mel's home state and we look forward to returning there in the future.
