Happy 4th

31 years ago today I was in Tulsa visiting Tom. I made a point of buying a postcard, addressing it and mailing it to myself to my apartment in Houston. (click on the picture to get a larger & better view). It was the Bicentennial celebration that day and I wanted some sort of unique memento for my little 'ole self and this is what I came up with. I think all the post offices agreed to postmark mailings with a special cancellation mark if you mailed on that day. The picture side of the postcard is a nighttime skyline of downtown Tulsa. I really don't remember what we did that day in Tulsa. What I do remember is when I returned to Houston and opened my mailbox, I was excited to see that the postcard had arrived safe and sound. I thought to myself "I will keep this postcard forever".

That was a great idea. Maybe Tom will remember what y'all did. He'll have to post his old postcard with a penny stamp on it sometime. 31 years ago, I was lying on the couch very pregnant and very uncomfortable in the TX heat.

Peggy, I can remember you coming to Tulsa on the 4th. Best I can remember you were driving a green Mustang. I can't remember what we did whatever it was we had a good time

I did have a green '69 Mustang fastback but sold it right before I moved to Houston from Shreveport in 1975. Jason groaned when he learned that I gave up that Mustang for a new Buick Century - a white one with a half burgandy vinyl top! Haven't we all regretted selling or disposing of something that would now be valuable? Remember Dad's red and white Ford Crown Victoria?

I remember the Crown Victoria which Dad called "Vicki". Wasn't that the first time they were a two car household?
