Pic From The Past

I was looking through old photos and came across this picture of my beloved first car. It was a new 1967 Chevrolet Malibu that I purchased after securing my first teaching position in Caddo Parish. I bought it at Red River Chevrolet (at the foot of the Texas Street Bridge in Bossier City). I remember feeling so excited to finally have my own car. My car payments were $97 a month for 36 months! I do believe I payed less than $3000 for it (not including interest). Think we kept the Malibu for about 5 or 6 years. I now have a love affair with my Honda which is 15 years old. I keep saying I'm saving it for Jacob when he gets his license.
I really think it will last that long!

I remember that car well. If I'm not mistaken, it was the first car in the Barr family with automatic transmission and factory A/C. All previous cars I remember had clutches and the add-on A/C's under the dash. Today, that car would be worth more than the original purchase price. Not sure the Accord will reach that status.

Oh yes I remember this car. Chris, I have a long overdue confession. You let me drive this car one time and I put a dent in the right side door. It was very tiny, but I was so worried that you would find out and give me a verbal whipping! Ahh - now I feel better getting that off my chest!
