Tap and Toe Girl

Having never had a dance lesson in my life did not stop me from believing I was a dance prodigy.

The costume above belonged to my girlfriend Carla. Her dance recital for this costume must have had some sort of peppermint stick theme. I have on tap shoes and am pretty sure I spent lots of time tapping around in the carport.

I remember this Christmas gift of pink satin toe shoes. I had told Mom that was the only gift I wanted and I was desperately hoping the box would be under the tree. To throw me off, Mom told me a few days before Christmas that I would not be getting toe shoes because I didn't know how to toe dance. I was crushed. When I opened the box I couldn't believe my eyes and I couldn't get those toe shoes on fast enough. I was so happy, even though my expression shows apprehension. I'm sure I spent the rest of that Christmas day toe dancing around the house. Who needed dance lessons?

I had never seen these pictures until the Branson reunion when Tom and Linda presented us with the wonderful CD full of old family pictures such as these. This was a wonderful reunion gift. The memories came flooding back.

But maybe it's not too late. Now with the empty nest and a little more time on my hands, perhaps I will audition for this group.

I bet there is a local dance club you could join and you'd do great.
I have a friend who joined a clogging group and loves it.

Mom, based on the first picture, I have to ask: are you a secret member of the Lullaby League from The Wizard of Oz?
